Bouldering Essentials

Want more than a quick video intro? Want to get off to the best start possible? Struggling to climb that next grade? Want to move more gracefully and feel more ‘flow’ in your climbing? Make the most out of your visits to The Ledge bouldering wall with this essentials course, a fun and flexible 3 hour skills session with one of The Ledge’s highly qualified instructors. Lots of climbing and lots of practical tips you can use right away!

There’s more to bouldering than pulling yourself to the top and getting back down.

In these sessions our coaches will look at the fundamental skills of movement, technique and tactics to help progress your climbing. From footwork to body position and route reading to fluid movement, these sessions are designed to provide the essential skills for developing your climbing and are suitable for both boulderers and rope climbers. 

Your coach will provide personalised feedback and will tailor each session to suit everybody.

These sessions are for climbers aged 14+ who are climbing in the V1-V3 range (red to purple circuits) and have a basic understanding of how to use the climbing facilities at the Ledge.

Private Coaching

Our coaching sessions are for climbers of all abilities looking to improve their climbing. Whether you’ve hit a plateau and are not sure what’s holding you back from the next grade, have a specific goal or weakness you are working on, or just want some tricks and tips on how to keep progressing then our coaching sessions are for you. 

We aim to develop climbers through efficient movement skills. You’ll learn essential techniques for effective footwork, energy conservation, and fluid movement, all aimed at making your climbs smoother and more enjoyable. We want to develop independent climbers, so our coaches will look at ways in which you can self analyse and maximise your time on and off the wall with and without a coach. 

We offer one off sessions or a regular slot with one of our team. Our coaches will take the time to understand your climbing goals and aspirations and help you identify where best to direct your training. Sessions may focus on a particular skill or tactic, help to develop a training plan, or simply provide ideas to help keep your climbing sessions fun!
